Hello. I'm looking for ideas or suggestions that can help me find a job being only almost 17. I really don't want to do resturant work. I thought maybe a church or a dollar store but I don't know. I'm going to be taking a networking course over at my tech school next year so I'll be working on getting my cisco cert, and my m$ cert and novell cert. What have some of others being blind done to make a few bux on the side being a teen? Thanks.

Depending on how good you are with kids and how open-minded people in your community are, you could baby-sit.

And I know restaurant work can suck, but if you want money badly enough, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I strongly encourage all the teens on here to get a job. Not only will you have your own money, but you'll have experience that will help you get employment when you become an adult.

I was never encouraged to get a job growing up, and I know it would've made a big difference if I had been. That's why sometimes you have to take the initiative yourself, as I did when I got a job in the cafeteria at the school for the blind.

Try looking at grocery stores. Some wouldn't mind if you have a disability as long as you do the job right. I work at Wall-Mart so far, its been good. I work three times a week, and the pay is $ 8.50 an hour not bad.
